why should a few loose rules and exceptions within an open universe convince us of anything?

How much do we know of "reality?"
In what system of rules does it say that you must "universalize" what you think you know?

The "material" world is such a limited view of reality, and it is by far the smallest part of space.  The vast empty space within an atom or a solar sytem or a galaxy reflects the ineffible, uncontrolable non-being, which glares at your ego. 

You can see a vessel that carries the vast future in prophesy.  It makes circles in fields of crops to remind us of what cannot be known.  It records cirlces of light, which our minds cannot see onto electro-magnetic recordings, point-and-shoot momento mori of human life events.

this odd dimension-bending mind that stops at 4, for now...  question this reality and work out your peace with it. Or make a new one!

She dances in our minds with color that our tongues cannot touch, but which we taste through the sight of infinite, sheltering sky.

This apparently eternal evanescence lives with a view towards something doomed.  Awake now.  You are an ape with a tendency to self-agrandize.

What kind of animal should we be?

Self actualize, and it is the end of so many seemingly important things.
Your center of the universe will slip outside yourself and travel millions of  light years distant, in an instant.  What will you do then?
